Question:

How can I polish or renew gold/brass plating?

I have a guitar with what is described as "Gold Die-Cast" tuning heads. They are looking very tarnished so I used some silvo on the back out of one in an out of view area and it changed from gold into a silver colour. I understand silvo is just a polish and doesnt actually contain any silver in it, so Im guessing these "Gold" tuning heads are plated gold. Is there a way to polish a tarnished gold/brass looking plated metal without removing the plating on the rest of the tuning heads?

Also, I dont suppose there is a way anybody knows of where I can reapply a brass/gold colour to the part of the tuning head that now looks silver?

  1. you can polish gold with jewellers rouge. If you have gold plated items (most likely)  they can be replated simply- but ask at your local jewellers about replating. You can also "do it yourself-"  but first obtain technical details.

  2. For brass you can also use a product called "brasso"

  3. Take a lemon cut it then use it U will see its shining the n wash it off with some soapy water see where soap can be used
