How can I prepare for Field Hockey?

This is my first time ever playing field hockey.

How can I prepare my body for it?

I'm not good at running,I can do a mile and a half at most.

what are things I can do to get in shape for this?

  1. I would run and jog as much as possible and I would bike  a lot Push ups as well

  3. RUNN.. im 14 btw so this is my story..

    i NEVER ran -- i cried during the mile run at school hahahah..

    so i decided to try out for the field hockey team so i started running a week before the tryouts....

    OMG WE HAD TO RUN ATLEAST 2 MILES A TRYOUT...

    but guess what- yesterday night i got the good news.... although im only a freshman they moved me up the sophomore team which was pretty AMAZING!! and today was my first practice and the coach was gonna have us run this 2 1/2 mile route around the school THEN run down to the track and do the stairs - getting there and back from the track is 4 1/2 miles NOT INCLUDING THE STAIRS

    WE WERE GONNA HAVE TO RUN 7 MILES PLUS STAIRS... but i began to pour down rain.... so we just had to run laps around the hallways in the school then run suicides outside when the rain cleared up.....

    so yeah you need to figure out how to run=-- breathe in your nose out mouth

  4. i suggest that you start to do lots of exercise so getup at 6 and run for an our then practice your skills.

    if you don't go well keep trying and dont give up
