How can I prepare for the Keyboard Specialist 1 civil service state exam in New York?

If someone has taken this exam, or know someone who has, could you please offer tips and advice for both the multiple choice portion and typing section of this exam? How difficult is it?

For those who are not familiar with NY civil service exams, if you could offer common vocabulary words and grammar skills(or a site that lists them) that I may be tested on for an entry-level admin assistant postion, your tips would be valuable as well. Thank you in advance.

I took the test in April and it is not difficult at all. Everything is basic knowledge. I can tell you what the basic parts were like. The first part was pointing out different sets of threes which were the same in punctuation, grammar and spelling. For example, three addresses were given and u had to pick the two that were the same. It is very easy but make sure u pay attention to a missing comma or a number in the wrong place...because that is where they try to trick you.You also had to do this with numbers, names, etc. Another portion of the test was picking which word was spelled incorrectly. Three words were given to you and u had to pick which of the three was the right spelling or if it was even spelled correct at all. Be careful of words with two sets of double letters like neccessary or necessary. Forth or Fourth, it looks easy but when you are taking the test, these words can play mind games. The next set was finding grammar errors in a typed letter. U should know that the Sincerely goes on the far right and u skip two lines before you put the signature. It is common  sense. Do not stress and over think because u start confusing yourself. They wrote me back and I have to send in my resume. Dont be alarmed if it takes a while. I just got a possible letter of eligibility and I took mine in April/
