How can I stop Wind Erosion?I really need your help. I though that planting new trees will stop wind erosion but I'm not for sure. Is it right? If it's wrong, how do I prevent wind erosion? (NOTE: If there are more ways to stop wind erosion, please type it down for me. :) If you write it nice and sweet, I shall give you 10 points and 5 stars ASAP. (A s S oon A s P ossible)

Thank You Very Much,

  1. A good example of the control of wind erosion can be found on the West coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

This coast is exposed to the prevailing South Westerly winds and resulted in the vast movement of sand inland overrunning good farming land.

Firstly Spiniflex was planted. This is a very hardy plant with a widespread root structure. After these plants became established Lupins were planted. These added Nitrogen to the sand and further stabilised the movement of the sand.

After these plants were well established Pine trees (a species of the Californian Pinus Radiata) were planted and with the favourable climate grew to maturity quickly. These trees are now being harvested and cleared areas are immediately replanted to grow the next crop of trees.

I hope this example will help you.

  2. yeah the tree stuff will work!!!!!

plant trees in rows i have read sumwhere dat it will help much!!!

nd do not leav the soil bare!!! plant grasses ovah it!!!!!

  3. Trees are mostly used to stop erosion from rain.

Planting grass would significantly reduce wind erosion.

Basically, any plant that covers a large surface area and has moderately deep roots would work.

As for artificial methods, I don't know. There probably aren't any that are very effective.
