How can I prevent an ACCIDENT like this???

Question

Its a video of some car running a red light and a peacefull biker gets run over....this is one of the reasons holding me back about getting a motorcycle.

Don't let that worry you.  You just gotta be 10x more observant on a bike and don't assume just because you've got the green light that everyone's gonna stop.  Always look both ways before proceeding, even with a green light.

Look ahead at EVERTHING and EVERYONE ahead of you especially in intersections at people going across your path even if they have a red light. Don't ASSume all people will stop for a red light so be very cautious.

You can't see in the video if the motorcyclist could see the car running the red light and if he may actually had time to react if paying full attention, but the accident MAY have been possible to avoid.

Looks to me in the video the the motorcyclist remarkably got up after all that.

Always be looking as far ahead as possible.

Assume that everyone in a car is an a*****e, and can't see you.

Never trust turn signal lights.

Don't speed into intersections...don't speed period!

I'm amazed at how much more perceptive I am of other drivers recklessness even though I have been driving a car myself for the last year.

No matter what you do though, even if you drive a transport truck, accidents happen. Just do as much as possible to not make it your fault.

Keep all your attention on the road, be geared up always.

Look for blind spots and know soccer mom is there to take you out.

You can easily get you neck snapped if you were in a car.

If you were writing on a note pad, the pen could have gone into your eye killing you instantly.

Cars aren't as safe as people tend to believe.

Look accidents happen. There is nothing you can do other than learn to ride and practice safe riding skills.

If some ****** is going to try and beat a red light, your going to be seriously damaged no matter what your driving. SH*T HAPPENS!

Never enter an intersection without looking both ways first regardless what color the light is...
