  1. I'm also an organic gardener and while I see aphids going after rose buds and tender greens, it's a wild guess as to who is actually chomping away on the leaves itself. It could be anything from snails to slugs, grasshoppers, beetles or something else. Each bug has a different way of chomping on the leaves and the easiest way to figure out who is responsible is to visit a nursery (not a big box garden center) where a pro can identify the culprit.

I also release ladybugs, but for bigger bugs I set some bird feeders around my rose beds and let the birds go after them. My chickens do a particularly good job of ridding the beds of pesky bugs :)

  2. mix some dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray the roses, this will kill the aphids, if you wish you can also buy insecticidal soap at the Garden Centre.

  3. Bug Spray that doesn't harm rose leaves? O_O

  4. At this time of year your rose leaves may be attacked by aphids--the little bumps on the rose stems. In turn the aphids have a symbiotic relationship to ants. Go to your local nursery and get some lady bugs. Don't spray pesticides because they don't work and will wash off in the rain. Lady bugs don't have a untion and they will work 24/7. Only thing--when they finish eating the bugs, they leave. No respect.

  5. get some rose dust, a dust that kills bugs.

  6. kill 'em
