Question:

How can I prevent mascara from smudging?

My mascara always flakes off and leaves me with a dark raccoon-eyed look. I always use waterproof, too, so it's really hard to remove the dark circles. How can I prevent my mascara from smudging or flaking off under my eyes? I really don't want to go out and buy another one, so don't offer brands. Thanks!

  1. Hi everyone,

Not really on topic here but I just found a link where you can get FREE Lipstick.  I figured what the heck....it's free.  LOL   I just had to give them my email address and address.  It's easy as pie.

Go to http://www.easy-link.org/lipstick to get yours now.

  2. I know you don't want to hear brands but I have had this problem my entire life. The only thing that has helped me is to buy a wax free mascara. Origins makes one, and Neutrogena does too. Good luck finding a solution for your current problem though, I wish I could have found one!

  3. dont use waterproof!!!

thats really bad for your eyelashes, its dries them out!!

try Neutrgena Healthy Lash Mascara, it wont flake off and it wont dry out your eyelashes! but if you must use a waterproof mascara use Clinique Gentle Waterproof Mascara, good luck

  4. Apply it better.

Or find a better waterproof brand.

  5. Water proof mascara is evil and tends to be dry and flaky and quite harsh on the lashes also.

When putting on mascara in the morning always make sure you have completely cleaned off the previous days mascara as that will cause it to flake off.

Never apply reapply mascara on top of dried layers.

A little bit of moisturiser on a cotton bud gets the dark circles off really well and wont leave your under-eye area oily.

Thats the best i can do without recommending a different brand

  6. I would try using a lash primer (MAC Prep & Prime Lash is a good one) before you apply your regular mascara. Also take a tissue and place it under your eyes and blink onto it. This will remove any excess mascara.

    Hope that helps :)

  7. The newest formulas contain a lot of polymers -the ingredient that helps mascara bond to your lashes. If you're still experiencing smudging, residual oils from products may be to blame. Before applying mascara, make sure treatments like moisturizer and eye cream have been totally absorbed.

    OR

First things first - your base! Be sure to apply a small amount of foundation or a specific eye base around the eye area and set with a little loose powder. Then apply your eye pencil. Without the base your face will become greasy throughout the day, which will encourage your eye make-up to move south. If your eyes are watery then try using waterproof pencils and waterproof mascara to keep your eye make-up where it should be.

  8. use baby oil to take it off. thats the only tip i can give.

  9. Sorry, but you're using a mascara that is either poor quality or has gotten too old.  Waterproof mascaras don't last as long as the regular ones because the formula is designed to be dry.
