I'm 16 and my mom doesn't believe that I have mold growing in my room, even though Ive showed her many times. My room is practically under a hill and during the summer it gets very damp and now the mold is becoming a problem because it's growing on my clothes. So is there any way to make my room dry during the summer, or should I take my stuff out until drier seasons?

  1. It seems like you need help from a professional person. Mould can make you sick. You do need to get the drainage system checked. Always keep you room well ventilated and mean while use bleach to clean the mould form walls etc. Wash your clothes in hot water, and do use bleach to kill the mould. Once you get the 'drainage -problem' fixed you should not have to do much to keep it mould free.

    Good luck!

  2. I don't understand that if your mom saw the mold, how can she not believe you? Anyway, the mold can make you ill so you need to do something. Purchase a can on Lysol Disinfectant spray. Spray the Lysol directly on the walls and all around your room. Store your clothing in an air tight plastic tub and put a fan in your room to keep the air circulating and to help things stay dry. The mold that you do see, needs to be cleaned with a mixture of bleach and water. Mold isn't something you want to have around it can cause all kinds of health problems. I hope this works for you.  Take care.

I can suggest how bakeries clean mold and rope . Scrub it down with bleach and soapy water/strong bleach with good ventilation and rubber gloves.  When it has dried take a clean cloth and pour pure vinegar in a bowl and and wipe it down.  If its inside the walls they will need to be cut out and cleaned replace insulation and put a moisture barrier.

if it's at the floor level and not much use the cans of spray foam to help

prevent the accumulation of moisture. If it's drywall most lumber yard have broken pieces and sell you a small section cheap.

Mold can grow almost anywhere there is water damage, high humidity or dampness. Any underlying moisture problems must be fixed to eliminate mold.

Treating mold infestations is a two-step process. First, the condition contributing to the mold must be corrected -- in this case, poor drainage. Second, the affected area must be cleaned.
