Question:

How can I prevent my glasses causing a glare in the sun?

Playing softball, this seems to be a huge issue. I do not have sunglasses that can fit on my current glasses, and until I order one (that doesn't scratch them), I'm stuck without shades. My visor does not work as much.

I canNOT wear contacts, nor can I receive laser eye surgery, so do not suggest those two. I have an eye disease that prevents the contacts from attaching to my eye. But anyway-

I am a pitcher, and I pitch to the batter while facing the sun. By the sun causing me not to see the ball if it comes back to me, it could be fatal. In fast-pitch, high-school age sfotball, the batters can easily hit a ball back to the pitcher faster than the pitcher can realize.

  1. Antiglare coating.

  2. There is special glass for that. I have that kind of glasses. No glares, just a little purpler light...

  3. If you are able to,you should try and get the Transitions lenses in your glasses. If you're unable to do that, try and find a pair of clip-on shades for your glasses.I am sure you'll be able to find a pair to fit onto your current glasses.I went to LensCrafters and got a pair for about $43.50.Good luck!

  4. there's a kind of lens they use that polarize depending on ambient light. this means when it's indoors, your glasses are clear. when you're outdoors on a sunny day, they turn dark. and they react to any other light condition in between.

but until you order these or your attachment that go on your glasses, the only other thing you can do is wear your hat a little lower so it shades your eyes from the sun.

  5. i get an anti-glare coating on my specs. i need it because of them having such a high prescription the sun glare seems more intense

  6. Talk to your eye doctor.  He/She will be able to not only suggest fixes to your problem, but also be able to fix them!

  7. There's nothing you can do short of getting a pair of prescription sunglasses given the limitations you've provided above.  Talk you your doctor about the best options.

  8. Transition lenses. With anti glare coating.

  9. Short of getting clip on sunglass shades (which it sounds like you already plan to get) or prescription sunglasses, I don't know of any other options.  I think that Wal-Mart's vision center sells the sunglass shades though, so maybe you should stop there before your game to pick some up.

I have tried getting eye-glasses that have anti-glare lenses, and they help but aren't great.  I also have the transitions lenses, which are pretty good; and they come with the anti-glare lenses.  Of course, buying new glasses is expensive and will take a while for them to come in; but this might be a good long-term solution.

  10. There are different types of glass and glass coatings that you can ask for if you go to the glasses store. Go to a store that only deals with glasses, don't go to Walmart.

  11. ware sun glasses
