How can I prevent my underwear from fading in the washer?

I have many, many, manyyyy pairs of underwear from victoria's secret and american eagle's "aerie"

I really like them a lot and I don't want them to fade in the wash. What temperature water, etc. should I use?

Wash them by hand while you are taking a shower otherwise place them in a lingerie bag and wash them on gentle in cold water and hang dry them. The dryer will cause more damage than anything.

use colored safe laundry detergent.

and don't wash your lighter underwear with the darker underwear.

My secret for maintaining colors is to use Woolite.  Colors and Blacks maintain their intensity.

I use cold/cold on the hand washable setting in my washer (front loader).  The best soap I've ever used was Lux flakes as it's soap with none of the boosters found in laundry detergents but I haven't seen it in any supermarkets for a few years.  If you're feeling energetic, you might buy a bar of English Lavender or Rose Petal soap and use a cheese grater to give you small 'dots' of soap to use for washing. If you stored it in a zip-lock and then put it into a jar with a s***w-on lid, this should preserve the scent.

With a machine that has a centre post, you'll need to put your things in a pillow case or lingerie bag.  If you use a pillow case, tie it off with a piece of kitchen twine and cut off when wash is finished.  Dryer:  10 mins. on lowest setting to get rid of the water-drip then, I hang on hangers with clothes pins and leave to dry overnight in the shower.  As someone else, said, the dryer heat does more damage than washing.

When travelling, I wear my underthings into the shower and wash me and my clothes then, take off to give a bit of the rinse and finish rinsing under the shower head after I'm out and roll in the extra bath towels to dry them somewhat.  My husband did the same with his shirt and underwear so we always needed 7-8 towels per night for the 2 of us!
