Question:

How can I prevent myself from grinding my teeth at night?

My boyfriend says that I grind my teeth at night, and with one look at my teeth, my dentist says that I grind my teeth, too, and I didn't even mention anything about it to her! She said that the enamel on my molars has worn down so much because of the grinding, and in order to protect my teeth, I need to wear a night guard...but it's around $400!!

Is there any alternative to wearing a night guard to stop my teeth-grinding?

  1. I'm not sure about you, but my mouth guard was less than $30...

You can get one for even less here- it also explains teeth grinding and such:

    Good luck! <3

  2. Learn to relax.  Take nerve calming herbs before you sleep such as Valerian, Hops etc...  Change the way you think.  Don't stress, stop worrying as this is the cause of grinding.  I grind alot and have ground my teeth down heaps.  I have a NTI splint and it works but it bothers my mouth a bit to wear it.  The best thing I find is to change your life and you won't grind.  Not easy but it means you don't have to wear a splint.

  3. mouth gaurd or put cotton balls all around and on top of your teeth

  4. i grinded my teeth a lot a while back and simply got a mouth guard. theyre like 5-10 at sports authority or walmart, and it totally stopped my grinding for good! i dont use it anymore tho- but i only used it for a month or two.. and i never grinded my teeth again.
