Question:

How can I prevent scratches across my wrist from scarring?

About a week ago during a basketball game, I sustained a couple of deep fingernail scratches across my left wrist. It hurt like heck and bled a bit, but now it's scabbing and beginning to heal. I'm concerned, however, because I can already see scar tissue forming. I know that I scar easily, so several times every day I've been applying moisturizer to the offended area. In the interest of not looking like a cutter for years to come, could somebody please advise me on how to keep scarring to a minimum?

  1. Try that Mederma stuff, I hear it works pretty well.  You can get it at stores like Target or Walmart, in the aisle with all the antibiotic ointments.

  2. Well, you can't totally prevent a scar, but I do know they sell in pharmacies scar reducing creams. They are expensive, but worth it. Some brands are Mederma (there will be store brands too), Neosporin Scar Solution, Neaclear, Scar Zone etc.
