  1. There are plenty of ways to promote your site.

  2. Hi Cookie,

It looks like you got some good answers already. Something that wasn't mentioned was article marketing. That's writing articles about your subject and submitting them to online sites like ezine articles, go articles, and others (that you can find by googling). You'll get back links that way plus attract people that might be interested in your subject. Do a search for "bum marketing" online to get detailed info on article marketing.

Also, do a Squidoo lens or hubpage comes to mind as they get indexed quickly by the search engines. Just have a link to your site.

Another method is to find blogs with similar subject matter to yours and submit comments (will build links back to your site).

I also have found a site I like called Entrecard, where you can get free advertising on other people's blogs with a trade system.

Social bookmarking on places like Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious and many others will also bring traffic.

  3. Your website has got to be attractive to visitors and keep them there when they visit. This depends on your type of site, but well written, informative original, articles will help. See our beginners guide to website design & promotion at http://www.ds32.com

  4. You can promote your website in many ways... generally, SEO advisable.. but not techniques like blak hat seo's. Perform the following tasks for your website promotion.

    Directory Submissions,

    Social Bookmarking,

    Commenting on blogs,

    Forum commenting,

Article postings to different article directories,

    Creating social pages,etc.,

Apart from all these, please maintain uniqueness in content and create RSS feeds to your site, and ping them in the famous sites like pingomatic etc., thus, it will be updated.

  5. The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is

to first set up a website and publish its domain name

on major search directories such as Google.com,

    Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and

MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these

search directories to provide them with goods and

services. In a sense, these search directories are a

    very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage

fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using

such "generic" queries will not be able to discover

your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,

in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,

when observed and committed in designing of a website

with placement of various critical metatags that can

surely achieve a high search engine presence and

increase Internet traffic to your website. These

metatag strategies work well with published webpages

    at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based

website, make sure to fill-in the property entries

such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing

to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can

be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the

Internet audience and their incoming setup. For

example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages

take too long to load up and therefore analog users

will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL

lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So

before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple

question, "Who's my end user - is he on dialup or

DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users

for maximum marketability, then select analog users

since 80% of most resident users are still analog

Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages

    is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,

is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit

the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a

graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots

are unable to properly classify textual material.

    Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google

and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which

should consist of no more than 65 characters separated

by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic

terms, the goods and services, followed by a location

from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.

The placement of a domain name which is not generic

within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your

domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is

usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which

best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - "Keywords" are also

somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural

and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries

which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which

is defined as the loading, and submission of

repetitive words into a particular metatag category.

"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported

to Google's spamreport.com can result in the

elimination of your website from their search

    directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on

Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query

"sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not

abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave

out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4

million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net"

is ranked. It's ranked No. 1!

Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by

proper web design and placement of relevant metatags

    according to Google's publication guidelines.

    Good luck!

  6. PPC (Pay Per Click):  This can be costly if you are not experienced, but it will guarantee visitors to your site. You will set a maximum amount that you are willing to spend per search term on Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. In this method you spend  per click to your website.

Navigation: Make your navigation search engine friendly. Some webmasters use frames, but frames can cause serious problems with search engines. Even if search engines can find your content pages, they could be missing the key navigation to help visitors get to the rest of your site.

Site Map: This is a must have for any website that wants to be indexed by the search engines. It allows the "bot" a map to finding information on your site. You can submit your site map to Google which may increase your chances of being indexed.

Promote Your Local Business on the Internet: These days many people search for local businesses on the Internet. To make sure they find you include on every page of your website the street address, zip code, and phone number.

Begin a   Blog:  Begin a blog on your website about your industry, be sure to host it on you domain. If you offer excellent updated content and regular industry comment, people are likely to link to it.

Your URL: Put your url (website name) on everything that you have. Include it on stationary, bags, business cards, receipts, anything your business sends out. Your www.yourbusinessnamehere.com should be treated as an additional location.

Promote Your Site in Online Forums and Blogs: The Internet offers thousands of very targeted forums and blogs. Use these groups to learn more about your field and promote your business while doing so.

E-mail: Create a signature on your e-mails that include your website address. It is a great way for people to quickly get to your site if they would like to learn more.

  7. Write articles about your website or ideas.

Submit your website for users to review, free!

    Go to Famous Pages

    http://famouspages.info

  8. Purchase Redirect visitors, unlike pay per clicks this is a inexpensive method to gaurantee targeted visitors. The way it works is visitors are redirected to your site through the use of banners through-out the internet, and expired domains. Also unlike pay-per-clicks this takes about two minutes to complete. You can create a campaign here http://www.traffic.submityoursite.us Starts at $19.97 for 10,000 targeted visitors.

While this works great to bring traffic nothing will top the traffic from search engines, because these are visitors who are searching for your product and it costs nothing. If you havn't already done so, you should make sure your site is optimized well for search engines to crawl. If you need help just send me an email kevin@submityoursite.us or ban146 on yahoo messenger

  9. There are already many great suggestions here, but what I am missing is a thing many so called "bum marketers" are using to promote products (from clickbank, for example) as affiliates - with great success: posting classified ads on USFreeads! (and in this ad, they include a link to the product they wanna sell) The main reason why they do this is that USFreeAds is owned by Google!! And because of this, ads posted there are ranking MUCH higher in a google search. This means they get more Traffic and sell more products. And you can use that very method to promote your website, too!:

Simply post an ad where you promote your website and include a link that leads to your page (you already guessed that, right?). This means evertime this ad is crawled by the search bots, your site will be found, too. This means more traffic and a higher pagerank for your site. But this only works, if you get the usfreeads premium membership (only 9.99 Dollar a month). But believe me, this will pay out, because only then you can upload images, link to a website or enter an email address in your ads, advertise more than 2 items, advertise for business (this also includes: website promotion) and much more.

If you want to register for a usfreeads premium account, please follow this link:

    http://www.usfreeads.com/26554_refer.htm...

As I said, some of the other methods offered here are good, too. But just look at how many internet & affiliate marketing forums are full of threads about success stories with this very easy method. I am not telling you a secret here (at least it shouldn't be one anymore) but a method for website promotion many people who are not pros overlook - and 10 Dollars a month isn't that much, right? It is even more effective than writing lenses on squidoo (as I said, usfreeads is owned by google, squidoo is not - although it seems google likes squidoo, too). You can combine these two methods if you like, for better results. Aaaand you can even link your squidoo lenses to your ads on usfreeads.

God, do my fingers hurt now :D But I hope my tip will help you.
