Question:

How can I protect my forearms while playing volleyball?

I am in a P.E. class and we are studying volleyball right now. Since I wasn't much of an athlete in high school, I never had the chance to realize that utilizing proper techniques badly bruises my forearms. I asked my coach, if I was doing something wrong, he said the bruises are in all the right places...but didn't offer much help in the way of preventative measures. Is there something I can wrap on my arms? What should I do? I look like I've been abused!!

  1. its a three day process.

you NEED TO PLAY FOR THOSE FIRST THREE DAYS!

its going to hurt, a lot. but once you get past them your arms wont be sore anymore.

ice when you get home, for the first three days.

first day - you're gonna hurt while youre playing.

    [ICEEE AFTERWARDS]

second day - this is the worst day, and your arms are gonna hurt all the time. but keep playing and ice afterwards.

third day - you'll feel the bruises a little, but keep playing and ice.

fourth day - you'll barely notice, and your arms shouldnt hurt anymore.

if you keep going after that, your arms should be stong enough.

i'm 13, and have been playing club and school for about three years. it works for me and my team.

    dont forget advil either!

    good luck!

you just have to wait and give it a little time.

    it'll get better.

  4. This is normal. It happens to everyone when they first play, and at first these bruises hurt but if you continually play they pay off and you get GOOD! To numb up those bruises after you play, ice! Other than that, GOOD LUCK and PLAY FAIR! : )

  5. Wear long sleeve T-shirt, with time your arms will get used to bumping the ball and you will no longer get bruises
