Question:

How can I protect my hair from heat damage?

I straighten my hair A LOT, almost every day. I have to do this or the texture of my hair becomes really frizzy and puffy if i don't. But all the straightening is making my hair drier and drier, and I really don't want hair that looks unhealthy. Do you know a really good, non-expensive product I can get that will protect my hair from so much heat damage?

  1. i straighten my hair when its wet and then let it dry naturally.....it works a DREAM

there is v. little damage and i have been doing it for years.

you dont need to buy a fancy straghtener

i get many compliments. =) Good luck

  2. make sure you condition each time you shampoo. try a good heat protectant like Ion heat protectant or Silk Elements or Clairol

  3. Matrix Sleek line has a great product called "Flat Iron Smoother". You spray this product on your hair right before you slide the iron through it.  It protects your hair from the heat, keeps the frizz from taking hold of your hair and it also sets the hair to give it the best straightened look possible. It is rather inexpensive and you can find it at any salon that carries Matrix.

    Good luck to ya!

  4. I had the SAME problem. I went to my local salon, asked what worked the best, and got this repairing cream - Joico Deep Penetrating Reconstructive. It's kind of expensive ($24), but I also got Loreal Studio Shine Seeker Spray from Rite Aid, and that works good to seal hair, protect from the heat, and add shine. I don't remember the price, but it was probably around $5.
