Question:

How can I pull multiple tubes/towables behind the boat?

We have a swim deck on the back that prohibits us from reaching the eye hooks on either sides of the back of the boat. We have one eye hook on the top center of the hull that we use now, but we would like to pull two tubes. Is there any special harness or rope we can get? The boat has enough power to pull!

  1. If you are just pulling tubes, attach the lines to the cleats on the stern, provided they are backed. There is not much resistance to tubes, unlike that of pulling skiers.

  2. Why not install two new eyelets; one on each side of the boat.  Make sure you back them up with a steel plate roughly 4" by 6".  I'm sure these eyelets will come in use for other things also.  When you run doubles, make sure the tubes are back far enough not to tangle one another.  I usually run 100  ft lines so that when you go into the "whip", the tubes are far enough along side away from you should a problem arise.  Be careful and have the tube riders wear T shirts or have their chest rubbed raw.  Have fun.  I pull my tubes with a 502, 22', jet boat.  Don't even tell me that I can't get you to fall off the tubes.  With 100' of lead, I can do a u turn and pass them going the opposite direction before they know what hit them.

  3. The two eyes you refer to "below the swim platform" are meant to be used for trailering and not pulling a tube or skiier.

On our 25' Chaparral we were able to connect multiple tow ropes for tubing and skiing to the single tow eye on the transom. We actually got 7 lines attached for skiing once and pulled 3 tubes countless times without an issue. But as others have said you want to make certain there is a back plate in place to prevent the eye from pulling loose and causing serious damage to not only the boat but possibly serious injury to a skiier or tuber!

  4. You normally can attach more than one rope to a ski pole. I would suggest getting a ski pole installed on the boat. some can be fitted into an existing seat mount depending on the way your boat is set up.

If there is no place to mount a ski pole then I would think the toe hook would be strong enough to hold two ropes for multiple tubes.
