I want to motorize my bike, but have no experience welding and I don't really want to go out and buy all the equipment for welding. Can anyone tell me a way I can attach a motor to my bike WITHOUT WELDING?

For information about my bike, you can go to: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1977659

This is a newer version of my bike, but it's pretty much the same.

I am also hoping for a chain drive.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. The Motor will need to be supported correctly. Welding may cause damage to the bike, and could easily spoil it's image.

    Bolts may hold it.

  2. you need a mounting plate, and you'll need to bolt it down to the frame of your bike, once you have done that all you need to do it bolt the motor on. you'll also need to buy a clutch for the motor your putting on so you can attach a chain to it.

  3. You can always go with the whole drill and bolt method, but it's not going to be strong at all and you will run into alignment issues. Welding is the best way to go. My advice to you is to find a buddy who knows how to weld or learn yourself. It's pretty easy to pick up on the basics
