  1. I doubt a widget will work with the current groups. you can add RSS feeds, but the group has to be public for those to work

  2. You definitely can put a weather sticker, gizmo or banner on your Yahoo group's home page. It's very easy.

    1)  Go to Weather Underground http://www.wunderground.com

On the upper left, type in your zip code and hit Enter on your keyboard.

Scroll down to "Free Weather Stickers for Your Homepage" and click "Get Your Weather Sticker".  Scroll down the page to see which one would look ok for your group page.

Click on the one you want to put on your group's home page.

A page will come up with the html code. To copy the code, highlight the lines of HTML code for the one you want to use, then hold down Ctrl key on your keyboard and press the C key one time.

    2)  Go to your Yahoo group's home page and sign in.

Click "Edit" to the right of Description.

In the large box to the right of "Description", use scroll bar and scroll down to the very end of description content. (Make sure cursor is at the very end!).

On your computer keyboard, hold down Ctrl and press "V" one time.  This will paste the code into your description.

Click "Save Changes" on lower right side of page.

Now click Home located on left side of page and you will see your weather sticker.  It will show current temperature, time and whatever else your choice of sticker has.  You can click on sticker at any time to get a complete current weather report for your area.

If you don't like it, you can edit your group description and delete the html code without a problem. If you do edit it out, make sure to Save Changes.
