How can I put my dog to sleep without hurting him?

My dog is 119 years old in human years and is in bad shape. He can't see,hear or smell. He walks around whimpering all day and night because of all the pain caused from arthritis. I don't want to shoot him or cut his throat or strangle him. Can anybody tell me something to put him asleep and not wake up?

The vet can give him a shot.  Please don't try to put your dog to sleep yourself- most of your ideas just seem wrong.  Sorry you have to put your four-legged friend down.

The best thing for you to do is to put the dog to sleep if you see the dog sad or if you see the  dog cant take it anymore then do it if the dog is happy then it just wants to be with you and die normal and spend his last days with you . Think about it .

Please take him to a vet.  He has been your companion for a very long time.  You owe it to him to let him go in a painfree and dignified manner.  A vet will give him a couple of shots, one to make him go to sleep and the next will make sure he never wakes up.  It's the best thing for him, and you can be there with him to see him off, as it will comfort him to have the person he loves so much to be there when he goes to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for you.

Well if you shoot him in the right spot from real close he would probably be out pretty fast and then......

I dont know about everyone else, but I have NEVER heard of a dog 119 years old. He must be pretty beat up (meaning a pile of bone dust). But take him to the vet. Like everyone else says. Please don't take my humor to heart hehe.    :)

well if you did shoot him it would be illeagle killing your dog on porpus is illeagle so just take him to the vet and tell them that you think he ought to be put out of his missory thell understand and hemaly uthanize him dont worrie it takes about 30secconds to take effect.

Sorry buddy, a vet or humane society is the only answer; think, this dog has been your companion for many years, he has loved you without reserve, you owe it to him to do the decent thing.

It is quick and painless and he will simply fall asleep.

No other course of action is acceptable.
