How can I raise money for our local town Chistmas Lights fund?

We really need some unique ideas for this small fundraising comittee. It's a seaside town with a v small catchment area. Any ideas?

Silent auctions, plant sales, pie sales, car washes the list is endless  Easiest is a letter writing campaign asking for donations.  We do that for our Spring Flower Baskets, requests are sent to all business owners.  Last year we raised 3600.  Always follow up with a thank you card.
