  1. Cheapest (and easiest method (in my opinion) is to buy a cheap set-top DVD recorder (to fit under your TV) also you need a SCART to PHONO plug (plugs into the SCART on the back of the DVD recorder). Plug the red/yellow/white leads into the back of the plug, press play on the camcorder and record on the DVD recorder.

The unit isn't just limited to downloading your video files - it's an every day piece of kit!

SCART to Phono plug = £2 or less

    DVD Recorder = £50 Maximum

DVD Discs = about 25p each

Shop around and you can halve all these prices

If you're looking to edit the clips then most software can handle .VOB files (the file format for DVD's)

    Good luck

  2. Alternativelly you can get a different videocard with compound video input - there you can capture ANY videosignal whether from VHS or any other source.

And you do not need any software - Windows movie maker (part of every windows installation) can do the job..

  3. If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder…

You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle costs about 70.00 but if you have many VHS tapes to copy then it's worth the money.

  4. Transfer video from VHS tapes, digital or analog camcorders directly to DVD or CD

Capture audio and video via the USB port to your computer hard drive

    DVD Xpress DX2

    USBAV-709-EF

    Price (excl VAT) : £66.11
