How can I record phone calls with a PC?

I have a PC connected wirelessly to a router which is plugged into a phone line, I would like to be able to record any phonecalls made/received using the landline, is this at all possible using software ? I have sen hardware solutions but I believe there must be another way!

  1. first, it is NOT illegal to record telephone calls if you follow the law.

    The easiest way to record a call with a PC is to buy the phone interface that is made for a tape recorder.

    If you want to build your own, you need two .47mfd disk capacitors and a 600 ohm to maybe 1000 ohm transformer.

    You can find these parts by ripping an old modem apart.

    from the 600 ohm side of the transformers thru the .47mfd cap to the tip side of the phone line and the other side of the 600 ohm side thru the .47 mfd cap to the ring side of the phone line. Now, connect the seconday of the transformer to the LINE IN on your sound card...
