  1. confirm that your laptop S video output is ok.(you can verify by connecting it to TV/if your TV lacks try friend LCD tv as most have that )

Now Your Mini DV must have "AV in" feature(most Canon camcorder have)(My Canon Optura 30 has ).with the SVIDEO to SVIDEO cable you can connect both and record it on DC tapes.

.I don't understand what above answerer Tiddy V talking.

Still if you have any doubt Feel free to Email me.Have a nice project

  2. you can record the S-video out, but typical on a lap top that connector is "OFF" by default on boot. you need to toggle it to "ON" for the video to pass out. the toggle is usually one of the F-keys, it is F7 on my thinkpad.

  3. Hi Maam!

You may not need a vcam to do that. Normally a screen capture application is used .. for free: Debut (by NCH), Windows Media Encoder or Camstudio. But for professional effect (w/pay but may get a month free trial): Snagit,  Camtasia. Just Google. Personally I recommend Debut, the screen is clearer.

The procedure is pretty simple and with better results vs recording via vcam. In fact, you can include a narration of what you are doing.  The output would be a digital video file w/ accompanying explanation of course. How's that?

A PowerPoint presentation captured on-screen this way will turn it into a video. Finally, a video editing application like (free) Windows Movie Maker would be good to join video clips; to enhance your video- transition, adding pics, triming videos, music background. titles & credits. If your laptop has lots of memory, capture in avi format (best quality), if not change setting to wmv.

To present to your class, just connect your Dell laptop to a big monitor (those LCD one's got 15-pin vga port just like your laptop or better, to an LCD projector for a bigger screen, similar connection.

Borrowed a tutorial posted by Kidentity in YouTube (THANKS!)
