How can I recycle old Pens?

I want to recycle pens but I don't know how. Is there a place where I can drop them off or could I take them apart and recycle the parts individually? Easy question, please help!

Recycling a plastic pen is just like recycling any other plastic. Put the used pen in your recycling bin along with all your plastic bag bottles and polystyrene.

Next time you are heading past a collection point take the collection of plastic along.  I am always surprised how much plastic, glass and cans I collect in a few weeks.

The recycling depot near me ( Wynberg near the fire station ) has bins for each of the types of plastic. Most plastic have the  Identity number in the triangle.  The bins also have sample of each of the types of plastic. You will quickly get to know the different types of plastic.

take the cartridge out of the pen and throw that out..recycle the plastic body of the pen

seems that the cost of recycling would be more than the savings of pen material
