Recently, I've been spending more and more time in front of a computer screen. I'm worried about my eyes, and I've always believed that sight is the best sense to have, and the worst sense to lose. I currently do not have glasses. Do you have any tips for reducing eyestrain?

  1. Every 20 minutes or so look up from your computer and look into the middle distance.  Also looking at the color red helps.

  2. Go to the optometrist to make sure you don't need glasses/contacts or anything and also dim the brightness on your computer screen.

  3. Take a break every hour for around 15 minutes. Look around, into the distance if possible. Looking far relaxes your eye muscles.

Also, with your screen, if it's an old CRT, you may want to consider upgrading it to an LCD instead. LCDs aren't as harmful to your eyes as CRTs. Adjust the brightness to a setting that isn't too high, but you find comfortable.

Finally, adjust your screen so the top of it is lined up with your eyes (eye level).

    Hope this helps!
