I have a BT phone line which i only really use to receive calls. My quarterly line rental works out at about £33. How can i reduce my line rental without changing my number? I would be prepared to change phone networks if necessary. Thanks

  1. There is the light user scheme. It is the same rental but if you do only make a small amount of calls out per month they equate that and reduce the rental to reflect this. My father in law is on this and it saves him a fortune. You are not eligible if you have Internet on the line or have a mobile phone. I can't say how it works much more but if you really do only use your line for incoming calls it should be alot cheaper for you.

  2. alas the lowest BT line rental is £11.00 per month. So you are already on that tariff.

You will need to look at other networks, or cable, but when I looked around everything was much of a much when I looked into the price of calls, line rental etc.

    Hope this helps?

  4. thats about £11 a month which is the lowest bt offer. i used to be with bt and recently moved house. bt wanted £125 even taking the same no as they said this house had been disconnected. however found that previous people had virgin so contact them they didnt charge connection fee and its only £25 a month rather than the £35 we were paying with bt. however of course thats cable and the box was already here, and thats for phone and broadband
