I bought a new appartement, the entrance of the elevator is in the appartment; I'm thinking of installing a door in front of the elevator to reduce the noise.. any other possibilities?

  1. soundproof your apartment somehow.

  2. The door idea sounds like a good one IF the sound is coming through the elevator doors, so be sure it's not coming from the walls nearby, or being telegraphed through the structure itself.

Also, if the sounds are mostly made up of of low-frequencies, it will be a lot harder to attenuate them, as low frequencies get past a lot of sound-proofing measures.   For example, a rumbling sound won't be reduced very much by anything short of rebuilding the elevator with some kind if vibration isolation between it and the building - not likely to happen, I'd expect.
