How can I reduce the swelling and redness in my forearm?

I had stitches in my forearm and it is swollen and a little red, is ice safe? Is there another sollution?

  1. It sounds like the area where you had the stitches is infected and that's not good. I would recommend calling your physician and more then likely if its not bad, they will recommend you just applying some over-the-counter antibiotic ointment on the area.  


  2. Ice should be safe enough to use just make sure you don't apply ice directly put it inside a pillow case or something. Have you taken any anti inflammatory medication as they would help as well

  3. Ice is perfectly fine. I don't know the severity of your injury, but sanitary ice is a fine way to reduce swelling. Elevate your arm when you sleep.

  4. when you lay down prop up the arm with pillows, this will stop the blood from flowing into the inflamed extremity , ice will help too
