  1. The first thing you should do is search the name you want to trademark at the USPTO link below. Then hit SEARCH. You will want to find out if someone already has the mark you want. Keep in mind that a name is associated with certain goods or services. For example, a name registered for a car is not likely to be a problem for a sports item.

You can file a trademark application yourself on the USPTO website. It can be a bit confusing the first time. Nolo Press published guides on Patents and Trademarks. http://www.nolo.com/.

  2. It sounds to me like you want to register a company not a trademark.

To register a company you can visit www.companiesmadesimple.com.  Their packages start at just £25. Probably the cheapest you'll find anywhere. They also do it all online so you don't have to get solicitors to witness any signatures and they also provide the memorandum and articles of association.

As it is done online, the company name is also usually registered within about 3 hours.

They offer a whole range of packages and are a reliable company, as they are the subsidiary of a firm of accountants.  They are also part of a group of companies that focusses on services for new businesses so you may well find other services they offer of use.

    Good luck!

  3. In the UK you can use an online registration company. I can recommend http://www.registermybusiness.co.uk where you can choose the company name and form the company online. This site also lists some of the other main online company formation agents.
