How can I regulate my menstrual cycle?

I am trying to get pregnant, but I have very irregular periods (I usually go 2-4 months between having a period), so it is very difficult to track ovulation. How can I even out my menstrual cycle? (Obviously birth control is out of the question, as I am trying to get pregnant.)

  1. Usually the only way to regulate your period is to take BC for a few months to get a regular cycle going. Other then that tracking your temps may be the only other way to know when you are ovulating with irregular periods.

  2. you need to talk to your doctor about this, they can do some tests on you to see if there is a particular reason for them being irregular. i have polycystic ovarys and had the same problem, but they sorted themselves out and i fell pregnant straight away. they will discuss meds with you,but if you dont have any fertility problems they dont usually give you any help until you have been trying for a year or 2 with no luck. good luck.

  3. please go & see a docter if u have not done so already.it seems like u could be having PCOS(poly cyctic ovarian syndrome)i have it too.its the main reason for irregular periods.if it turns out that u have it then ur docter will giv u the right medication to regulate it & u must tell them that u want to conceive as well.dont try to taake any medication with out their advice please.its my own personal experience.all the best.

  4. Talk to your doctor about polysystic ovarian syndrome (pcos). It gives you irregular cycles. It can make it more difficult, but not impossible to get pregnant. My mother has it and I have a sister and brother that were conceived naturally ( i was conceived with clomid). My brother is older and sister younger.

I would ask about metformin if the doc says you have it because sometimes that alone can help with pcos. but if that doesn't work clomid will help you ovulate. Check out some website if you like about PCOS, but don't be scared by them, people with PCOS have babies all the time. Good luck, and lots of baby dusk!
