How can I remember things more easily?

Is there a way that I can train my brain to retain more information in a smaller amount of time? For example, I need to remember all the polyatomic ions and I've been studying them for about 4 hours for about a week now and I've only remembered about half of them >.<

  1. try coding them with things around you or memorize them like you would remember a phone number. x*x-xxxx (meaning groups of 7) or to your favorite song like the alaphabet song.

  2. like a rolling stone

wont listen to anything less than 10 years old now

  3. Eat cod liver oil daily. It really works, your memory and concentration skills will somehow improve tremendously after about a month.

  4. next time you need to remember something just associate them / it with something you will never forget they don't have to have anything to do with each other like if i want to remember to go buy a cd at 9:00am i will associate it in some way with my alarm clock when i wake up so when i see it i remember it. Hope this helps
