My mother was doing some yard work by the side of our house today and got stung by a bee! When she looked to see where the bees came from, she found out there was an entire nest right in the opening of the gutter. She wants to remove it but we don't know how to take it out without pissing off the bees! Any suggestions?

  1. Get some Wasp and Hornet spray. It will reach 20 feet.wait till dusk and spray the nest.

  2. I don't know how to do it humanely, but my dad always used a hose and a broomstick... LOL

  3. If your referring to a "honey bee" hive, the best and safest way to remove them would be to call your county Dept. Of Agriculture. They can give you the name of a local beekeeper who would more than likely take them off your hands for free. Trying to remove a hive of pissed off bees is not a very good idea and getting stung a few hundred times is not my idea of fun! If you do not have the proper equipment for the extraction, it can be dangerous as well. You could try looking in the yellow pages under "apiculture" or "beekeeping" and find a professional that way. Explain to him or her, your dilema, and see if they would take them off your hands for free or for a nominal fee.. Good luck!...

  4. Do It at Night....they will not come out at night - even at the expense of trashing the hive, in the morning they will all move on to build a new hive ( elsewhere most times) or join existing hives and enlarge the forces & hive there.

  5. Approach at night when the bees are not likely to fly.

  6. Find a local bee keeper, they will remove it for you.

I have had a couple removed from trees in my yard.

  7. A friend of mine told me to wait till after 8:00 pm and then do it. knock it down with a broom stick. She said they leave their nest at night.

  8. If you have a Tractor Supply Store near you they have a product that I use regularly and it is called, Gordon's Wasp and Hornet Killer. This will spray at least 20 feet and you can stand back and just watch fall dead. It is inexpensive, less than $5 a can and you can eradicate several nest with one can. After you have sprayed the nest well and you let it set for a while then you can get your ladder out and take down the nest. I am including the link for this product so you know what I am referring to. Good luck and happy spraying.

  9. Use a smoker or burn something under it as the smoke will put the bees to sleep.

Do this around night so they all fall asleep while in the hive.

Knock the hive down and do whatever you want with it like throwing it in the neighbor's yard, someones mail box, sticking some dynamite in there, etc.
