Question:

How can I remove grease stains from a silk skirt?

I accidentally split oil, could be olive oil, onto my skirt. Sprayed it with Vanish and washed it on a delicate wash but the stains have not gone. It is a silk skirt and says dry clean. Any ideas how to remove oil? Thanks

  1. I have had some luck using Dawn. But, not after it has already been through the rinse cycle...and not on silk.

If the skirt is already not wearable, I would trying using straight Dawn on it and scrub lightly with a toothbrush adding only enough water to make it suds up.

Good luck. I know that stinks!

  2. take to cleaners..... they might be able to save it.... why did you wash it if it says DRY CLEAN??....

  3. put some brown paper over mark and use iron as hot as you dare  iron paper it should bring grease out  I have done this in past but as you have already  used vanish and washed it I don't know if it will work as well  but if no one comes up with anything else it is worth a try good luck

  4. washingup detergent gets rid of most stains,

  5. Cover the stain with dish detergent (I use Dawn) and let it sit overnight. Then wash.

  6. iron onto greaseproof paper
