Someone spit gum from the third floor of my apartment building and it landed on my car and windshield on a 105 degree day which made it stick horribly, any ideas on how to remove it without damaging my car?

  1. Hello Karina,

To remove the gum from your windshield, I would hold an ice cube against it to harden it and then scrape it off with a razor blade (very carefully) so you don't cut yourself.

To get it off of a painted surface I would try the same thing, but use your finger nail to try to remove it. The razor blade would scratch your car.

You could also try that goo gone that the other answerer mentioned. Though, I have never had much luck with that stuff.

I hope this helps you out!

    Good Luck!

  2. The cheapest is peanut butter. The peanut oil gets in to the gum. Then take windex to clean.

  3. Try Goo Gone. It shouldn't harm the finish on the body or haze the windscreen.  That plus it smells orangey. Really orangey.

  4. Use kerosene and a cotton rag.  Soak the rag in kerosene and gentle rub the gum.  You may want to wear rubber gloves as the kerosene is a little stinky and is hard to wash off your hands.  You may want to try peanut butter, but that is hard to wash off the car.  Either method should be done in the shade and not in full sunlight.

    good luck
