How can I remove makeup without damaging the skin around my eyes?

I use clinique make up remover, and it's actually really good. but it's not the product I'm concerned about, I just have a hard time gently removing my makeup because mascara can be a bit tough. it's not like I'm really ripping at my skin, I just don't know if there's a better way to remove it, thanks a bunch :)

  1. I bet you use cotton wool pads and either rub furiously or wipe from the inside corners outwards??

Best way to get you makeup off without pulling your skin is to wipe DOWN until all your mascara is off your lashes but smeared under your eye. Then Wipe INWARDS until it's all removed. This is a tried and tested way of avoiding crows feet (the crinkle lines int he outer corner of your eyes) Just remember - never wipe outwards or pull your skin too forcefully.

If you're having trouble getting your mascara off. Personally, i find olay better than clinique for mascara but clinique is better for getting rid or eyeshadow/eyeliner and foundation. Maybe try using a dab of baby oil to slide the mascara off your lashes rather than using a product designed to dissolve it?

Also, consider which mascara you use? Waterproof mascara can be d**n impossible to get off without a lot of force. I know it's not a priority when you're buying mascara but trust me - when you're 40 and you don't have wrinkles - you'll thank me!

  2. i wash my face first a gentle soap.  i actually just use the soft soap out of my pump.   that takes off the bulk of it.  then i dry off gently so it doesn't get on my towel and use a cotton pad and baby oil, of course u would use your makeup remover,  a good soft cotton pad so it doesn't fall apart or stretch your skin, there are different qualities.  then i lather up again.  believe it or not my antibacterial soft soap cleanses better than anything i have ever used.  I've never had clearer skin.. but that makes sense.. it kills bacteria and moisturizes.

another thing.. after you wash the first time.. if you don't dry off but leave your skin wet and swipe over your lids w/the pad soaked w/baby oil it will glide right across w/no tugging at all and take all that mascara w/it.  then wash again to get rid of the residue.

  3. What I do is drip a clean cotton pad into my make up remover and start with the top lashes first, putting the cotton pad close to the roots of my eyelashes and blinking against the wet cotton pad, then just spend more time with the bottom(since you can't blink). But I know what you mean, it's just tedious business, and I'm pretty sure that's how everyone removes their make-up.
