How can I remove paint from badly stained and exterior windows?

I have just moved into a lovely new house, but unfortunately the previous owners have tried to make the kitchen window look like stained glass, and it doesn't work too well at all. It looks very bad, and is peeling and very patchy!.

How do I safely remove this paint?

  1. YOU CAN BUY A GOOD WINDOW SCAPER FROM YOUR LOCAL  D.I.Y.      IT IS NOT EASY BUT, THE BEST WAY TO DO IT

  2. I think you'd really need to get in new windows.

  3. old fashioned loose stanley blade taken it easy

  4. If it's single glazed you would be easier and quicker just to replace the pane of glass.

Other oprtions eg stripper, scraping etc will be time consuming and hit and miss

  5. Nitromors paint stripper or the equivalent

  6. have you tried rubbing White Spirit on it and also using a plastic scraper, like you would use on a freezer for stubborn bits. good luck

  7. Turps should do it, get the low odour stuff it doesn't smell so bad.

Use a cloth and allow turps to soak in.

whatever you do don't scrape it as you will mark your glass
