Question:

How can I remove pencil marks off of a freshly painted wall?

I just striped a wall and I used a pencil to mark where to put the tape. I accidentally put tape over some of the marks so I didn't paint over the mark. I tried using just a rag and water and it didn't work. Any suggestions so I won't ruin the paint job. Thanks!!

  1. I can't think of what they're called, but there are grey gummy erasers that work extreamly well.

  2. Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser (526 50)

Everybody should have one of these. They will do the job perfectly.

PS, I would let the paint harden for 48 hours first. If you try before it's really set, you'll probably damage the paint, no matter how careful you are.

  3. Either try a regular pencil eraser or try the Mr Clean Magic Eraser.

  4. Um, just use an eraser once the paint dried and if the paint came off, then you have cheap paint.

  5. Wet a sponge and dab it over a can of kitchen clenser.

Gently wipe, and the pencil will vanish.
