Question:

How can I remove sticky residue from the grip?

I am a complete idiot and bought a replacement grip for my tennis racket thinking it wouldn't be that hard to put on. I removed the original grip and I'm left with a sticky base. I'm currently trying to remove the leftover adhesive and sticky residue. I don't have that fancy sticky residue remover stuff and I can't buy it right now. How can I remove the residue? Have any of you replaced your own grip before? How did you remove the residue?

  1. I have removed sticky residue from rackets.I use Goo gone.

Since you don't have that;Get a cloth rag, like a piece from an old shirt, and use rubbing alcohol.

It will take a bit of patience, but it should come off.

    Good luck.

  2. I have mine professionally done at the PRO SHOP that I took lessons at....

  3. I would get a razor blade AND BE SUPER FREAKING CAREFUL.

You should be able to scrape off anyhting that keeps you from putting the new grip on.
