Question:

How can I remove the burnt taste from spaghetti sauce?

My husband was cooking spaghetti sauce while I was out and I guess forgot about it for awhile and so it began to burn. He removed the sauce without stirring it into another pot however the burnt taste remains. I feel bad and don't really want to throw it out because he seemed so sad lol. I was wondering if there is any way the sauce can be salvaged or if anyone has any tips on removing the burnt taste. Thanks!

  1. I suppose that this gets to be a good lesson to watch the sauce!  Anyway, if the sauce is edible, then make the most of it.  You can add a little sugar, more tomato sauce, chopped veges etc. but I suspect that the underlying and lingering flavor will be burnt!

  2. Get a little tipsy first.  I know this is a bit facetious, but it'll work :)

  3. Sorry dear, you can't, I have tried often. LoL

  4. Unfortunately you can't. Along with salt, sugar, herbs and spices the burnt taste becomes infused with the hamburger and sauce.

  5. Unfortunately there is little you can do to save a sauce once it has been scorched,,,

  6. throw it out and cook some more then tell him it aged to perfection.

  7. add sugar and peanut butter. and some more sauce

  8. Try adding some finely grated carrots!    They're a natural sweetener (and slight thickener).
