  1. Use a good cleaner wax.

  2. buy and use clearcoat its the best

  3. Use a good Fiberglass Cleaner Wash and dry the entire boat

    Followed by a Finishing compound

    Use a good electric Buffer/Polisher

    Finish with a QUALITY Wax

Plan on making a DAY of it

Depending on your location and the amount of use you give your boat

You may need weekly washing and monthly waxing Or like here in Pittsburgh Pa My boat is used daily from May to November

It gets washed every week to ten days and gets waxed twice a season

  4. Buffer and a wax are always best.

If your on a budget, 'cif' (new version of Jif) is a fantastic product. I know it's available in Ireland and probably UK.

The property that makes JIF so good is the grit. If you can find something similar where you are use it. Just get a J cloth and scrub and scrub and scrub.. its time consuming but fantastic.

THe only thing is the gel coats wax is probably worn away, so this will happen again quite quickly. I"ve never tried it but a few coats of laquer might be the job.. Rough it up with a 400 grit first.

The other thing is, if you want to restore colour wet sanding the gel coat with 600 then 1000 wet and dry is always a good option.. though not too often.

  5. I tried the 3M fiberglass restorer and a wax product. I put it on and used my powerbuffer to take it off. It did okay, but not great. The most effective thing I used for very short term shine was some of that tire wet spray. It REALLY made the gelcoat shine and gave the boat the wet look. I would definitely try the rubbing compound and wax route, but if you still aren't happy with that, you can try the tire shine spray.

  6. one way is to use maguiers or mothers paint polish, start with scrach remover then go to fine cut cleaner, use them with a buffer, you can wet sand with 400 or 600 grit sandpaper its black, the scratch remover will clean the scrach lines, it will bring back the gloss shine I promise, still try it in a small spot and see how it does and how long it will take to do the whole boat

  7. Try a clay bar. I use Mother's clay bar for my car, all of the impurities stick to it. If the haze is caused by sun fade/orange peel and your boat has a clear coat, look into wet/color sanding, does wonders but takes a long time and some effort, could also damage the paint if you are not careful.

  8. your not buffing fiberglass,,,its the gel-coat,( or awl-grip,or other paint),,,and if you've waxed,,and since you have gotten the haze off before,,and it keeps comming back, rub ya hand across it,,it probably feels "pity" and if the boat gets alot of direct sun, affects it too,,,your best bet is to try to buff first,,,3m is the best,,use a very fine grit buffing compound,,apply with a 2" chip brush,,do small areas,,and dont heat the paint,,,and use the handle of your brush to clean buffer with.,,if this doesnt work,,you'll need to wet-sand,,,but use 1500 up to 2500,,,nothing less,,,,or you'll be asking how to paint next hehe, try this forum,,theres a bunch of just the info your looking for

  9. Yes, get a buffer and use 3M Fiberglass Restorer Wax. It will remove the haze and give you a great shine. Its made for boats and just what you asked for.

  10. Buy a power buffer!  Great to wax and polish w/o breaking a sweat.

  11. I had a red car, haze everywhere. I tried many things finally a product called #7 rubbing compound. There are two levels of abrasiveness, one is light green can the other dark. The light colored can with the least abrasive worked wonders, and I did it all by hand. Took quite awhile but it was worth it!
