I was cleaning my LCD monitor and I think I've put too much glass cleaner and after that I've got nasty black stains on the bottom of the screen.

Is there something I can do about this or start saving for new one ?

  1. I have seen many instances of what you describe, you have got fluid between the front plastic and the liquid crystal display. It can be fixed but is not a job for the unexperienced, the screen needs to be separated and the layers cleaned and dried. So if you want your screen restored a laptop repair may be necessary http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk

  2. What i use is a damp tissue to clean my screen (not too damp, just enough to make dirt stick), if you use glass cleaner that you use on windows then there's your problem, if its a 'special' monitor cleaner then check you're not forcing the tissue into the gaps of the screen as the liquid could be getting into the workings...

try using the damp cloth technique and see if the marks are removable, if not then you've properly damaged the screen in some way and you're gonna need a new one... or get a tech guy to take a look.

  3. YOU damaged your screen its like you dropped it or something Apple Ibook laptops does the samething if you drop it , or damage it.

  4. Sounds like you may have pressed too hard whilst cleaning the screen, and what you have is a 'blooming' effect caused by damage to the crystals.

Get a new screen and be extra careful when cleaning.  Make sure you use only products designed for LCD screens.  Regular products can permanently damage an LCD screen.
