Hello all, I bought this great wooden spoon for my new kitchen, it's a nice olive wood with a smooth finish. I used it while cooking a sauce and now it is dry and rough, I'm peeved because I payed way too much for it to be doing this. Are there any oils, or products I can use on it to bring it back to life? Thank you! :)

  1. To smooth it, use sandpaper.  To take care of the dry look, put mineral oil on it.

  2. I don't do much of anything with my wooden spoons.  I wash them by hand and that's it.   I spray them with Pam before using them for anything sticky.   I don't have an olive wood one, just the cheapies from the market.

  3. Wood is wood...and when it gets wet it's going to swell up and get fuzzy. You can use some sandpaper and smooth it back up...but there is nothing you can put on it that will not come out into your food when you use it next. You might try soaking it in cooling oil so it repels the water....but I would NOT use anything else that might be harmful. Just remember...if you a finish that you can not putin your mouth...then you don't want it on your spoon.
