My six month policy is due to expire next month and I need full coverage for my 2004 toyota corolla. I have never had to do this before, any tips or anything I can do as far as renewing my car insurance in the state of florida?

  1. Where did any of you read anything in the question about moving to Florida?  Not even implied in the question.

A site I've recommended in the past would be...

    Hope that helps.

  2. Assuming that you have not made multiple claims or had any significant changes to your driving record, you should receive a renewal policy from your current car insurance carrier, if you have not already.  If you want to stick with that carrier, just be sure to make payment arrangements before the expiration date of your policy and you should be good to go.  You also want to be sure that you replace your expired insurance card with the new one that should be provided with your policy renewal documents.

I check with at least one other company every now and then to verify that I am getting the best rate from my insurance company.  I have had really good experiences with Geico, but switched to Farmers because they offer a pretty significant discount since I also get my home insurance from them.  I am not in Florida, so I don't know what the big carriers are where you are, but I often just ask friends who they use and whether they have had good experiences when they need to make claims, etc.  Hope that helps!
