  1. I am not sure you can find a room in Paris for that price.  You might start with craigslist.org but be warned that it's strictly a classified listing and craigslist bears no responsibility for accuracy of the listing, safety of the neighborhood, etc.  In Paris, you can look for "chambre a louer" signs on windows(often rented to students on a budget-- lavatory and shower is shared and is in the hall).  Type 1 or F1 means studio apt. or one room apt. -- might have a bathroom.  Type 2 or F2 means 2 rooms-- a one bedroom apt. with private bathroom though the rooms may be tiny.  Be prepared to buy your own oven, refrigerator and to pay your own water bill.  Generally there is no such thing as "utilities included."  Watch out for the hot water-- the tank is usually small and thus, the water is ferociously hot.  To save money, most water heaters heat the water only at night (wee hours)so if you shower in the evening, the water might be cold.  In other words, the water for showering is hottest in the am.  Also, don't be shocked if you have to furnish your own bathroom fixtures such as towel bars and also your own glass globe (or just tolerate a bare light bulb hanging from the ceiling).  Not trying to discourage you, rather just giving you some advanced warning.  You might ask your school for some advice.  They might have a list of landlords, apt. complexes, etc.  Good luck and have fun!

You have to book online and I'm afraid it's above your budget (ranging from 445 to 545)

  3. Sorry. There is NO french translation for "cheap room in Paris"...  Try Berlin.  :)

  4. you will have no trouble finding a room at www.coloc.fr or www.seloger.com

The first will help you find a place with roommates, which obviously is the cheapest option.

Another choice is to live in a university residence; these are cheap but not particularly nice, and hard for non-French students to get into during the school year. If you're studying at a French university though, it should be no problem. Try www.crous.fr That's the organization that is responsible for helping French students find lodging.
