Question:

How can I repair a chip in a stone floor? Or at least make it look less obvious?

I was moving a heavy table on our stone flor and put it down too heavy, now it has left a dent where I put it down. Can anyone suggest anything that will make it look less obvious?

Many thanks for any help

  1. You could try filing the dent with grout the same color.  A little extra water on the top should take out some of the texture if it is too much.  You could also mix grout with an adhesive, instead of water, to make sure it stays put.  I would use tight bond.  If the color doesn't match, try using some acrylic craft paint & blend until you get a color match.

Had to do this with some laminate floor.  I cut a piece just a little too short (didn't realize there was no trim going in that spot).  I just used wood filler & acrylic paints & you can't tell it was ever there.

  2. try concealing it with a rug.

  3. Use a matching epoxy filler - this is what they use for seams in granite/stone countertop installations.  If you can't find at a box store, then call a local granite countertop fabricator & see if you can buy a little from them.  Check the colors to see what will match best.  Good luck!
