Question:

How can I repair a small hole cut into the fabric of a tencel and rayon shirt?

I did this myself when trying to remove tags sewn into the seam running down the side of the shirt. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  1. You cut a piece of fabric where it won't show and you sew it on to the hole.

  2. Is the hole right at the seamline?  If so, can you simply take in that seam another 1/4" (preferably on both sides, so it balances out).

If it's a gash elsewhere, your best hope is probably BoNash 007 Bonding Agent (I kid you not!) and patience.

In either case, if you're not experienced with mending, I'd suggest taking it to an alterationist or a very good drycleaner for repair.
