How can I repair my radio that was left out in the rain?

My lovely husband left our radio outside last night and of course it rained. It's a pretty expensive radio - I dried it off as good as I can and had the fan blowing on it for the last 2 hours. When I plug it in nothing happens. Any ideas or is my $250 lost? Thank you.

  1. you might try a hair dryer at med heat but i think its doa

  2. Hopefully it is only a fuse inside the radio that is blown. Look for it in the area where the electrical cord goes into the radio. You will have to disassemble the radio probably to find it, although some are found in the battery compartment. The fuse will be less than 1/4 inch in diameter and 1/2 to 1 inch long either clear or white with metal  rings on each end. Although some makers have a more exotic type of protection device. Hopefully there will be a schematic inside the radio to assure you that you do have a fuse...

  3. Open it up and put it in the sun this will dry it slowly and then it should work OK . If not it time to get a new one
