Question:

How can I repel ticks? I live in Australia.?

I need a method or product that will rid those little annoying itchy critters called Ticks. I live in Australia and I live in the suburbs away from animals as such. But we do get the occasional pest called the black turkey. We think these 'ticks' come from the trees and we get them all the time. How can I get rid of them or prevent them from attacking my kids skin.

Any suggestion... apart from moving house.... or information can really help me out.

Thanks

  1. Use an insect repellent with D.E.E.T. as the active ingredient. Contrary to popular belief D.E.E.T. is NOT an insecticide. It is a masking scent. The ticks are attracted to you and other animals by the CO2 that your body exudes. This masks that scent. Regular perfumes will not do the trick unfortunately. However there is one type of body oil on the market that does, and it is great at repelling both ticks and mosquitoes, but i don't know if you can get it down under or not. It is Avon's Skin So Soft.  The only problem is the scent, is that while fine for women it kinda is not the most manly scent in the world.
