How can I report an "unknown" caller who keeps calling me and cussing me out and then hanging up?

Just after he/she calls, call the police, and they will track the number, and if you want, you can press charges.

The police should be informed of this but do you have caller id because if you can id this creepozoid then you will have one up on him.  Then take the number to the police who can trace the caller the next time he tries to harrass you.  If you don't have caller id, get it!  It is a box which you can attach to your phone or some phone companies have a number you can call to trace the last number called.  Write down the number call the phone company to find out whose number it is and take it to the police and report a harrassment case of the phone caller at the given number expressing fear that this person has threatened you.  They should be able to put a trace on your phone so that the next time they call you because it can lead to your death if you are not careful.

You can do one of two things. One, notify your phone company and keep a log of when, what time and how long the calls are lasting. Or, you can have the phone company block those " personnel or blocked" numbers.

You can call your local Sheriff's Dept. and explain it to them, and then they should give you this # to punch in before you answer. Like if your phone was ringing and you know it is them, pick the phone up, but before you say anything punch in, I think it was 55, on your key pad, and then say something. By doing that it will trace the call to whoever it is, and then the Sheriff's Dept. can do a Disturbance report etc.

Change your telephone number instead of reporting. they will not be able to trace anyone anyway. Just waist of time.

Don't waste your time.My daughter used to have a private line when she lived at home(before cell phones)and had a similar situation.Without a name,there is nothing that can be done.Even if you had a name, cursing at someone is not against the law.

The police need a crime for an arrest and finally prosecution.

Cell phones are too numerous for any kind of valid trace anyway.

Call  your telephone company and after three nasty phone calls, they will put a trace on all  your incoming calls.   Or say, "  Operator, Please Trace this Call ".    Just a matter of time and it will stop.
