In our area, a particular road is infamous for horrible traffic jam bcoz the road is a very busy one but it is narrow and the footpaths are encroached by vegetable vendors. There is a railway bridge passing over the road which also contributes to traffic congestion. The problems can be solved by constructing a 2 km. long flyover over the road and over and above the rail-bridge.

The road is maintained by the State PWD, the encroachment has to be removed by the Municipality, the traffic is controlled by the police, the rail-bridge is maintained by the railway authotity and the flyover will have to be constructed with the approval from two neighbouring Municipalities and State Urban Developement Ministry and State Finance Ministry.

How can I report the matter with my suggestions to appropriate authority and who is the authority? How can I be sure that the officials are not throwing the letter to the waste paper box without reading it properly?

  1. people suppose to take action already know it..they are taking bribe to not to take any action..even if you immolate your self in front of highest authority nothing will happen..best option is to leave the area gracefully...dont forget every one is corrupt here.

  2. First you need to research who will be paying the taxes to make improvements to resolve the traffic mess, whether your ideas are used, or some other person's in combination, because if the people whose taxes are to be used for this, do not want to pay the money, your efforts will be in vain.

    I live in USA.

Typically our traffic problems are due to a combination of

    * People who live around there, driving on out & returning

    * People who work or shop there, visiting

    * People who are commuting through the area, have no reason to stop there

To be fair, all these groups of people ought to pay a fair share of any improvement to the transportation infrastructure that needs upgrading because of their participation there.

But in USA reality, what happens is the residences and businesses located along side where the infrastructure is located, their taxes go up to pay for this. Some of them have their property seized because more roadway will be goin where it used to be their front yard, or their parking lot, or even have to knock down their building to make room for the upgrade.

You have no way of knowing if something you send to government officials is thrown in waste paper basket.

You can however, also send your suggestions in the form of a letter to local newspaper, or try to post on Internet sites of the news media ... such as TV stations.

Most communities have associations of people interested in improving their infrastructure, and in keeping it clean and productive.  You could go to meetings of these groups, to see if there's an opportunity to share your thinking.

Sometimes there are public meetings of city council, regional planning commissions, etc. where the general public may step up to the microphone, and make a SHORT statement or question about some matter of concern.

  3. File an action for mandamus against all the authorities involved in government roads, bridges and railroad so that the court will order them to solve the problem of traffic in your area.

  4. dont you have local govt. to report it

or aren't u aware of local govt.
